Something to Shoot For!

This is what it can turn into!!!

Shakeology and P90X

Fitness and nutrition go hand in hand. I think we all have an idea that this is true but what does it really mean ? It means that regardless of how hard you are training if you are not satisfying your "core nutritional" needs all that hard work could be for not. The fact that you are working out is great but it doesn't make it all right to "super size" your lunch every day or eat a pint of "Chunky Monkey" while watching American Idol.

"Core nutrition" is nutrition that's important for EVERYONE EVERYDAY! It's getting the BASIC nutritional needs met every day. Which if you are like the majority of the population you don't. So how can you get theses needs met without the aid of a calculator and complicated charts. You can start with shopping, cooking and eating better for yourself. Doesn't that sound like fun!! Truth is if it were that easy we would all be doing that already. In today's society that solution is becoming harder and harder to accomplish. Even if you did start to eat dramatically better which you should chances are you still would fall short of meeting your core nutritional needs.

The easy way is to supplement your diet. You do that by using supplements. Not any old supplements you find in Walmart but great ones. We all know enough about Walmart to know that the farthest thing from their mind is the well being of their customers. Heck They don't even care about their employees you think they are going to care about you. You don't put a whole heck of a lot of thought in what you are eating at least put some thought in what you are using to make up for what you are eating. Does that make any sense at all?

I tell you what I use. Shakeology and the Core Nutrition Pack from Beachbody. Check it out on my site www.beachbodycoach.com/dimitri . For $4 a day money you are already spending either on bad food or bad supplements you can begin to satisfy your core nutritional needs everyday. And for those of you who need to be knocked over the head that means you will have MORE ENERGY,FEEL BETTER, REDUCE RISK OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE, LOWER CHOLESTEROL, LOSE WEIGHT.................Put a smile on your face!!!!!

What Do We Do Now ?

Congratulations to UNC and their well deserved NCAA championship. Thank you to all the players for your commitment and sacrifice. Thank you to Tyler Hansborough for everything you have done these last 4 years and best of luck in the NBA.

What do we do now? We all woke up this morning or for some like myself this early afternoon with a sense of accomplishment and pride. We love this team for bringing us these feelings. All our hard work as fans has payed off. All the stress and nervousness was for not our team was in control the whole time. But how?

How could these kids be in such control? How could they overcome all the pressure and perform at such a high level? Does it have anything to do with their preparation, commitment and sacrifice? Does it have EVERYTHING to do with their preparation, commitment and sacrifice.

They all made a choice to perform at their highest level possible. Everyday they collectively made a choice and held each other accountable. Why do we find it so hard to make the right choices to perform at our highest level? Just like with these kids we know what we should be doing what we should be eating but still, day after day we continue to make the wrong choices.

We really don't have pure control over much in life. Whether we think we do or not, we don't have control over our spouses, our children, our jobs. What we do have control over is how well we prepare ourselves to live our lives or how poorly we prepare ourselves to live our lives. Why when we such ultimate control in this most essential area are we collectively doing such a terrible job in this preparation?

Now that the dust is beginning to settle I want to issue a challenge to us all. Let's all come together for our common good and start holding ourselves accountable for how we prepare to live our lives. Let us individually take control of our health, fitness and diet. Let's pledge to stop talking about how we need to lose weight or eat better or start working out. Let's create a community that supports one another, holds each other accountable and let's do it.

Commit as much energy to your health and fitness as you did to Carolina basketball (or whatever your team is) and we will all be well on our way to living a much more fulfilling life. That is what we do now!

Motivation, Support, Accountability

Carolina is poised to win their 2nd NCAA championship in 5 years. We are all hoping they will and will sure be watching tonight. We all watch a big game in our own way. Some will be on Franklin St. in big groups hoping for the win so they can be in a group of thousands jumping bonfires in the street. Some will be at home watching with our very best fellow Carolina fans. Others like mysef can only watch a big game at home on the couch, maybe with my dog Misha if he behaves and with my wife Aura whether she behaves or not. Oh yeah the ones with the means and desire will be in Detroit ready to storm the court.

We all are motivated to watch this game we wouldn't miss it for anything, we all have an abundance of support from Carolina nation and we will all be held accountable for watching this game as well by everyone we have ever known that knows we bleed Carolina blue. We all make time for this game it is #1 priority and outside of a VERY CLOSE family member dying we will all be in front of the TV as we have been all year.

Who has spent as much time concentrating on their fitness and health as they have on Carolina over the last year. Who has spent more money on their fitness and health as they have buying stuff to enhance their Carolina experience, the new LCD TV to better view the game, the tabs at the bar buying drinks and nachos for all, the tickets, the new sweats, hats and tees.

Why is it that we can gain so much from anothers victory. The another being the one who has motivated themselves, supported themselves and held themselves accountable. Why do we live vicariously through someone else's physical accomplishments that we have no control over, when we can live through our own physical accomplishments daily that we have complete control over.

If we all spent as much time as we have on ourselves as we have UNC basketball we would all be living better lives. So why can't we, why can't you, why don't you ?

Everyones Mind on Detroit

All of us in Chapel Hill are focused on what is going to happen in Detroit this weekend as well we should. Final Four, UNC it is dominating our thought. We all have a common goal and 2 Carolina wins will enable us to accomplish that goal. As a town, we combine all our energy and become part of the team, we become part of all the hard work and sacrifices the players and coaches have been making all year. We expect too much from them. We expect everything from them. We expect these kids to deliver to us this feeling that we can't or don't even try to provide for ourselves. During the year we expect our own children to deliver that feeling to us.

When was it that we lost the ability to provide that feeling for ourselves? Or even try ?

Is it not a suprise that as a child when we all could and did provide that feeling for ourselves without even knowing it, excercise and diet played a big part. We ran and played for hours, Mom made sure we were eating "right", our mind was challenged daily by our teachers, in more ways than one in some cases.

Now we use our daily life demands to ignore these essential life requirements. We schedule our lives with a host of demands and obligations that are anything but essential. What are they ? Most revolve around when you get in your car, for the most part unless you are going to work, going grocery shopping, going to exchange ideas with friends or taking someone to the hospital the time you are spending in your car is wasted, the hours spent in front of the computer looking at nothing are wasted too, the weekly or more frequent trips to the mall, or Target aren't doing anything for us either.

Why do we choose to hide behind all of our "things to do" ? Do we really have to be a taxi for our 14 year old kids, have we taught them nothing that we can't expect them to find a way to get from point a to point b. Is that $500 bike we bought them and the $120 Nikes not help enough in that regard. Judging by the emptiness in our beautiful parks it seems that not only are we not providing the essentials for ourselves but we aren't providing the essential of excercise for our children either. It seems like we are happier having them in front of the computer than just making them do the incredibly difficult chore of "going out to play". Are we providing any better for our children in the area of diet ? You know we aren't.

The easiest. essential requirements aren't coming close to being met yet most of us are up before sunrise and don't go to sleep until almost midnight and in that span we aren't able to accomplish a little physical activity for ourselves and prepare something healthy to eat. We need to stop talking about getting into shape and eating better we need to just do it.

Go Heels!!! and Let's go too ! We can make it happen. Excercise a little change our diet a little and improve our lives to the point we just might be able to provide "that" feeling for ourselves again.
