Here's The Thing

"Life with exercise creates a completely different journey than a life without it. Making the time for exercise means that you're setting an intension to have a great life. Life without exercise means you're setting an intension to miss out on a better life. The quality of your life improves with exercise and it will get worse without it. Period! Your weight lose is a minute piece to the overall health and fitness puzzle. Every time you exercise you improve your fitness, healthy and quality of life. You always feel good afterward and you allow your mind and body to become less vulnerable to illness and injury. Every day you decide NOT to exercise your health, fitness and quality of life diminishes. You become more vulnerable to illness and injury and the energy and enthusiasm (feeling good) for a better life is not there. This is true for everyone. No exceptions. Make a plan, stick to the plan and do it... forever!"

Want Control ? Invest in Yourself.

So many of us have always tried to "do the right thing". We followed the path of expectation believing that the blueprint was solid. We happily bought into this great American dream. Many of us achieved it but once we did experienced a hollowness. We countered this by expanding our individual empire. More "stuff" from Target, Walmart, The Mall, a newer car, a bigger house. We were allowed to be conditioned that "investing", spending and acquiring would fulfill us and give us a sense of control over our lives. Did it?

For most it did not! For most that empty feeling inside was correct. The financial collapse is evidence of that. All the control we were led to believe we had suddenly disappeared. Don't feel bad because you didn't have it in the first place. We were all lied to. We are all still being lied to. They want us to believe that the country doesn't have a future without us spending more than we make. Unless we borrow and leverage we are not being good Americans. Do you still believe that?

Where in this recovery plan is there any mention that investing in ourselves is at least part of the solution. Investing in ourselves? Yes our mind, our body, our spirit. Why do "they" not think it would benefit our world if we all started to take better care of ourselves ?

The better we take care of ourselves individually the more independence we gain. The more independence we gain the less we need them. Them? The corporations, the government, them!!

Start investing in yourself today and it will open up a whole new world to you. Make a change. Get smarter. Get healthier. Get closer to your God. Do something other than thinking is it now o.k. to start spending more? Get that thought out of your head because if you don't we will be in the exact same place we are now. Life is about inner growth and progress.

FEAR of FAILURE

Starting a new business is definitely filled with unexpected challenges. Some more surprising than others. I think most people dream of working for the themselves but most never do. Why?

There are plenty of "reasons" but most simply boil down to fear. For the most part we are afraid of failing. Fear and failure do go hand in hand. We let fear prevent us from ever taking a chance on ourselves.

We make a choice to have motivation provided to us rather than taking a chance and trying to truly motivate ourselves. We would rather be motivated by our bosses, our schedule and our co-workers. This is not something new this is what we have always experienced. It was how we were conditioned from childhood. Don't think so ? Reflect a little and I think you will.

I started a home based business under ideal circumstances and it has still been scary for me. My biggest fear is not being able to recondition myself to being able to supply the motivation needed for it to be a success. The motivation of putting in the hours, doing the mundane. Why is it I have always done these tasks before for others without issue but now it is ?

CHANGE!!!! That's the reason ,that's what I attribute it to. Talking about change is familiar for some it's a hobby. "I am going to go on a diet", "I am not going to lose control of my emotions", "I am going to be a better this or better that". Talking about change doesn't scare anyone, it's easy. Actually making a change no matter how positive it is scares the hell out of everyone, let alone when their is risk involved.

The best thing about working from home is the people you encounter that have overcome some of these fears. The support in this community is incredible and although I am in business for myself I am not alone.

Fear of failure will always be there just don't let that fear cripple you from trying.

How About Starting This Way

If Yesterday Wasn't The Day.....

Then maybe it will be today. If not today maybe tomorrow BUT........ if you have been thinking and TALKING about losing weight and getting in shape it is time to start. NOW!!!! Or stop thinking about it and please stop TALKING about it. When you have these thoughts in your head or worse verbalize them and don't act on them you give yourself more reasons to condemn yourself.

"Starting" doesn't mean going on some deprivation diet or busting out a 2 hour workout your first day out. Starting means taking these thoughts that are in your head and making some good common sense decisions. When you start smaller you begin a trend that is a lifestyle change as in FOR LIFE! Smaller good decisions grouped together gain a momentum of their own. These smaller decisions will have you felling better about yourself immediately. Once you start feeling better about yourself you will be empowered to make even bigger lifestyle changes. Before you know it these changes are part of your life and your 10 pounds lighter and in much better shape.

So why don't you remove these things from your diet today
Soda or any soft drink with added sugar (sweet tea to all my southern friends)
Butter or Margarine or any fat product that is hard, replace it with Olive Oil
Mayonnaise use my replacement recipe
All fried or fast food, even if you are hungover and feel like you have to have it
White rice, white potato, white bread sub with my recipe for Quinoa, sweet potato and 100% Whole Wheat bread

Take these small steps today and feel better tomorrow. Don't deprive yourself just use a little common sense.

Something to Shoot For!

This is what it can turn into!!!

Shakeology and P90X

Fitness and nutrition go hand in hand. I think we all have an idea that this is true but what does it really mean ? It means that regardless of how hard you are training if you are not satisfying your "core nutritional" needs all that hard work could be for not. The fact that you are working out is great but it doesn't make it all right to "super size" your lunch every day or eat a pint of "Chunky Monkey" while watching American Idol.

"Core nutrition" is nutrition that's important for EVERYONE EVERYDAY! It's getting the BASIC nutritional needs met every day. Which if you are like the majority of the population you don't. So how can you get theses needs met without the aid of a calculator and complicated charts. You can start with shopping, cooking and eating better for yourself. Doesn't that sound like fun!! Truth is if it were that easy we would all be doing that already. In today's society that solution is becoming harder and harder to accomplish. Even if you did start to eat dramatically better which you should chances are you still would fall short of meeting your core nutritional needs.

The easy way is to supplement your diet. You do that by using supplements. Not any old supplements you find in Walmart but great ones. We all know enough about Walmart to know that the farthest thing from their mind is the well being of their customers. Heck They don't even care about their employees you think they are going to care about you. You don't put a whole heck of a lot of thought in what you are eating at least put some thought in what you are using to make up for what you are eating. Does that make any sense at all?

I tell you what I use. Shakeology and the Core Nutrition Pack from Beachbody. Check it out on my site www.beachbodycoach.com/dimitri . For $4 a day money you are already spending either on bad food or bad supplements you can begin to satisfy your core nutritional needs everyday. And for those of you who need to be knocked over the head that means you will have MORE ENERGY,FEEL BETTER, REDUCE RISK OF CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE, LOWER CHOLESTEROL, LOSE WEIGHT.................Put a smile on your face!!!!!

What Do We Do Now ?

Congratulations to UNC and their well deserved NCAA championship. Thank you to all the players for your commitment and sacrifice. Thank you to Tyler Hansborough for everything you have done these last 4 years and best of luck in the NBA.

What do we do now? We all woke up this morning or for some like myself this early afternoon with a sense of accomplishment and pride. We love this team for bringing us these feelings. All our hard work as fans has payed off. All the stress and nervousness was for not our team was in control the whole time. But how?

How could these kids be in such control? How could they overcome all the pressure and perform at such a high level? Does it have anything to do with their preparation, commitment and sacrifice? Does it have EVERYTHING to do with their preparation, commitment and sacrifice.

They all made a choice to perform at their highest level possible. Everyday they collectively made a choice and held each other accountable. Why do we find it so hard to make the right choices to perform at our highest level? Just like with these kids we know what we should be doing what we should be eating but still, day after day we continue to make the wrong choices.

We really don't have pure control over much in life. Whether we think we do or not, we don't have control over our spouses, our children, our jobs. What we do have control over is how well we prepare ourselves to live our lives or how poorly we prepare ourselves to live our lives. Why when we such ultimate control in this most essential area are we collectively doing such a terrible job in this preparation?

Now that the dust is beginning to settle I want to issue a challenge to us all. Let's all come together for our common good and start holding ourselves accountable for how we prepare to live our lives. Let us individually take control of our health, fitness and diet. Let's pledge to stop talking about how we need to lose weight or eat better or start working out. Let's create a community that supports one another, holds each other accountable and let's do it.

Commit as much energy to your health and fitness as you did to Carolina basketball (or whatever your team is) and we will all be well on our way to living a much more fulfilling life. That is what we do now!

Motivation, Support, Accountability

Carolina is poised to win their 2nd NCAA championship in 5 years. We are all hoping they will and will sure be watching tonight. We all watch a big game in our own way. Some will be on Franklin St. in big groups hoping for the win so they can be in a group of thousands jumping bonfires in the street. Some will be at home watching with our very best fellow Carolina fans. Others like mysef can only watch a big game at home on the couch, maybe with my dog Misha if he behaves and with my wife Aura whether she behaves or not. Oh yeah the ones with the means and desire will be in Detroit ready to storm the court.

We all are motivated to watch this game we wouldn't miss it for anything, we all have an abundance of support from Carolina nation and we will all be held accountable for watching this game as well by everyone we have ever known that knows we bleed Carolina blue. We all make time for this game it is #1 priority and outside of a VERY CLOSE family member dying we will all be in front of the TV as we have been all year.

Who has spent as much time concentrating on their fitness and health as they have on Carolina over the last year. Who has spent more money on their fitness and health as they have buying stuff to enhance their Carolina experience, the new LCD TV to better view the game, the tabs at the bar buying drinks and nachos for all, the tickets, the new sweats, hats and tees.

Why is it that we can gain so much from anothers victory. The another being the one who has motivated themselves, supported themselves and held themselves accountable. Why do we live vicariously through someone else's physical accomplishments that we have no control over, when we can live through our own physical accomplishments daily that we have complete control over.

If we all spent as much time as we have on ourselves as we have UNC basketball we would all be living better lives. So why can't we, why can't you, why don't you ?

Everyones Mind on Detroit

All of us in Chapel Hill are focused on what is going to happen in Detroit this weekend as well we should. Final Four, UNC it is dominating our thought. We all have a common goal and 2 Carolina wins will enable us to accomplish that goal. As a town, we combine all our energy and become part of the team, we become part of all the hard work and sacrifices the players and coaches have been making all year. We expect too much from them. We expect everything from them. We expect these kids to deliver to us this feeling that we can't or don't even try to provide for ourselves. During the year we expect our own children to deliver that feeling to us.

When was it that we lost the ability to provide that feeling for ourselves? Or even try ?

Is it not a suprise that as a child when we all could and did provide that feeling for ourselves without even knowing it, excercise and diet played a big part. We ran and played for hours, Mom made sure we were eating "right", our mind was challenged daily by our teachers, in more ways than one in some cases.

Now we use our daily life demands to ignore these essential life requirements. We schedule our lives with a host of demands and obligations that are anything but essential. What are they ? Most revolve around when you get in your car, for the most part unless you are going to work, going grocery shopping, going to exchange ideas with friends or taking someone to the hospital the time you are spending in your car is wasted, the hours spent in front of the computer looking at nothing are wasted too, the weekly or more frequent trips to the mall, or Target aren't doing anything for us either.

Why do we choose to hide behind all of our "things to do" ? Do we really have to be a taxi for our 14 year old kids, have we taught them nothing that we can't expect them to find a way to get from point a to point b. Is that $500 bike we bought them and the $120 Nikes not help enough in that regard. Judging by the emptiness in our beautiful parks it seems that not only are we not providing the essentials for ourselves but we aren't providing the essential of excercise for our children either. It seems like we are happier having them in front of the computer than just making them do the incredibly difficult chore of "going out to play". Are we providing any better for our children in the area of diet ? You know we aren't.

The easiest. essential requirements aren't coming close to being met yet most of us are up before sunrise and don't go to sleep until almost midnight and in that span we aren't able to accomplish a little physical activity for ourselves and prepare something healthy to eat. We need to stop talking about getting into shape and eating better we need to just do it.

Go Heels!!! and Let's go too ! We can make it happen. Excercise a little change our diet a little and improve our lives to the point we just might be able to provide "that" feeling for ourselves again.
